the only thing about these not worth liking is the engine\trans. nothing a 350 create motor and some wrench time can't fix.

A customer of mine actually has a late IROC-Z with the good 350, and it rips.

Oh i bet it does! those things are super sexy and fairly light. throw in a well built engine with even as much as 300hp it will fly.
One of the crazy "If I won the lotto" things I would love to do is pull a 4.4Lt Northstar from the STS-V and put it in an IROC-Z. end result would be a 460HP 430LB-TF DOHC monster!!

Yeah, i've got a crazy neighborhood. Some of the cars:
My 1968 Mercury Montego MX
1970's Vette
1966 Mustang
The F Body Twins
DELOREAN around the corner
modded C5 Z06
Fox Body Drag Car
WS6 Trans Am (For sale last I saw too....)
And probably more I haven't noticed.

Haha, I'll find out more this summer when the weather's nice. I moved in at the beginning of fall so I didn't get a full scope of the neighborhood. I was mainly finding stuff while on runs.
There's one I left of the list because I think it's abandoned, I think the house got forclosed and they left it there. It's a mid 90's Cobra Mustang Convertible, yellow with a bad black top, tarp used to be over roof, tarp slid off can't imagine how bad it is in there after this winter.

I've always really liked this body style. I Craigslist hunt for them periodically, but, living in rural West Virginia, about 90% of the ones within range have no less than three different colors (for which they charge a premium - it's three colors on one car! Try to find that kind of value on a Hyundai!), about 75% body rust (for which they charge a premium - it's West Virginia Weight Reduction!), and an original Achy Break Heart cassette tape that hasn't left the player since 1992 (for which they don't charge a premium - but they have drilled a metal plate over the cover to prevent you from playing The Notorious B.I.E.B. or whatever the kids listen to these days).
On a wildly unrelated note, anyone wanna grant me Oppo authorship (Oppoship?) - I had it on my other account, but lost my burner key because I'm as responsible a user as Flava Flav.

Nothing wrong with liking this. I'm not super crazy on the tire/wheel combo but that's easy to remedy.
I've absolutely been in love with these cars since I was a kid. What a lot of people don't realize is they are relatively light for their size (~3100lbs), and have a great chassis. I've heard the later years (90-92) are especially good because that's when GM started using construction adhesive to bond the unibodies together prior to welding.
I've always wanted to build one as a homage to the original 67-69 Z/28 Trans Am cars, complete with a nasty, high RPM, solid roller cam'd low displacement LS motor.

May get a bad rep but i would say its the most iconic car of the 80s. Always loved the Iroc body style and only thing i would is the louvers like below
